Marion’s Grandmother Chocolate Cake

This is the recipe my friend Marion (@novice_en_cuisine) has shared a few years ago. And it is such a special recipe because it is the one from her Grandmother. Of course, you will find Marion’s recipe right HERE! I remember I had baked this cake for Marion’s Birthday.

Marion’s Grandmother Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
 

  • 7 oz (200 g) dark chocolate chips (I used Barry Callebaut Dark Chocolate 54.5%)
  • 11 tbsp (150 g) butter (Melted)
  • 3 1/2 tbsp (50 g) milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 2/3 cup (135 g) sugar (Original recipe calls for 1 cup/200g)
  • 3/4 cup (93 g) flour
  • 1 tbsp (7 g) flour
  • 1 tbsp (12 g) baking powder

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350F/180C.
  • Pour your milk into a medium saucepan. Add the dark chocolate and butter. Heat on medium low until the butter is almost melted. Set aside and whisk until combined.
  • Separate egg yolks from egg whites in two mixing bowls.
  • In the first mixing bowlwhisk together the Egg Yolks with the Sugar until light and fluffy. About 5 minutes on medium high speed. Fold the cooled melted chocolate preparation, flour and baking powder.
  • In the second mixing bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks. Then, using a spatula carefully fold it into your first preparation.
  • Place your Star Flexipan® Mold on the top of your Medium perforated baking sheet.
  • Pour your Batter into your Flexipan®.
    • Save
  • Bake for 30 minutes at 350F/180C. (Every oven heats differently, monitor your chocolate cake from 25min). It is ready when the toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  • Once your Chocolate Cake is out of the oven, let it cool down for about 10 minutes, then unfold it onto your service plate. Enjoy & Bon Appétit.
