Marion’s Grandmother Chocolate Cake
This is the recipe my friend Marion (@novice_en_cuisine) has shared a few years ago. And it is such a special recipe because it is the one from her Grandmother. Of course, you will find Marion’s recipe right HERE! I remember I had baked this cake for Marion’s Birthday.
I hope you will enjoy them as it as I did. Bon Appétit!
As always, you will find the Step-by-Step Video below the recipe.

Marion’s Grandmother Chocolate Cake
Equipment
Ingredients
- 7 oz (200 g) dark chocolate chips (I used Barry Callebaut Dark Chocolate 54.5%)
- 11 tbsp (150 g) butter (Melted)
- 3 1/2 tbsp (50 g) milk
- 5 eggs
- 2/3 cup (135 g) sugar (Original recipe calls for 1 cup/200g)
- 3/4 cup (93 g) flour
- 1 tbsp (7 g) flour
- 1 tbsp (12 g) baking powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F/180C.
- Pour your milk into a medium saucepan. Add the dark chocolate and butter. Heat on medium low until the butter is almost melted. Set aside and whisk until combined.
- Separate egg yolks from egg whites in two mixing bowls.
- In the first mixing bowl, whisk together the Egg Yolks with the Sugar until light and fluffy. About 5 minutes on medium high speed. Fold the cooled melted chocolate preparation, flour and baking powder.
- In the second mixing bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks. Then, using a spatula carefully fold it into your first preparation.
- Place your Star Flexipan® Mold on the top of your Medium perforated baking sheet.
- Pour your Batter into your Flexipan®.
- Bake for 30 minutes at 350F/180C. (Every oven heats differently, monitor your chocolate cake from 25min). It is ready when the toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Once your Chocolate Cake is out of the oven, let it cool down for about 10 minutes, then unfold it onto your service plate. Enjoy & Bon Appétit.
