Easy Homemade Sour Cream Bagels
Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 cups (460 g) sour cream
- 4 tps (4 g) baking powder
- 1 tps (0.01 g) sea salt
- 1 egg (Whisked for Egg Wash)
- 1 Tbsp (10 g) Everything Bagel Seasoning
Instructions
- Place your Donut Flexipat® Tray on the top of your Medium Perforated Baking Sheet.
- Preheat oven to 375F/190C.
SOUR CREAM BAGEL PREPARATION
- In a mixing bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder and salt together. Make a well and add the sour cream. Gently stir inwards going outwards with your spatula. The dough should be just combined.
- Scrape the dough onto the Roul'Pat™ and knead gently until the dough is smooth (about 1 minute). Using your hands, press the dough down into a large rectangle, use your Pastry Stand to cut the dough into its round shape, and transfer it directly onto your Flexipat®.
- Brush your bagels with the whisked egg and sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning on top.
BAKE!
- Bake for 25 minutes at 375F/190C. (Every oven heats differently, monitor your bagels from 20min).
- Once your Sour Cream Bagels are out of the oven, let them cool down for about 10min. Then, Unmold onto your cooling rack. Slice once cooled down. Enjoy with your favorite filling. Bon Appétit!

Hello message, I love the sour cream recipe for bagels but, why do they have a strong sour smell when we toast them? Is there a way we can lessen the sour smell that comes through?
Hi Gina, thanks for taking the time to send your message. It has been a while since I have made them so I will rely on my memory to answer you at best. One of the things I like to use is full fat sour cream and the same thing goes for Greek yogurt as I have found that if I use something different it will have a sour taste and smell which I do not care for. If this does not help, you can add a bit of granulated sugar to your preparation to balance the flavors. And finally you can always add some baking soda, however it has to be tested and dosed properly otherwise it will be quite awful. I hope this helps, please let me know if you do experiment with these how it turns out! Happy Holidays, ~Nessa
