Easy Homemade Greek Tzatziki

I have always been so entertained watching the recipes of Akis Petretzikis (@akis_petretzikis) on his YouTube channel. When I am not in Greece, he is making me miss Greece and when I am here I enjoy cooking with local produces from Crete.

Today’s recipe is a Greek Classic of course! From the original recipe, I used dried herbs and spices because I cannot find them year round back home. It was so delicious! You can find Akis’s recipe, right HERE!

Enjoy & Bon Appetit!

As always, you will find the Step-by-Step Video below the recipe.

Holidays in Greece, could not be holidays without enjoying some Homemade Greek Tzatziki. It is so simple to prepare and delicious to enjoy!
Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Course Salad
Cuisine Greek, Mediterranean
Servings 6

Ingredients

  • 1 cucumber
  • 3 tbsp (50 g) White Wine Vinegar (Divided 1 tbsp + 2 tbsp – Do not substitute with another Vinegar)
  • 1/8 tsp (0.75 g) Sel Gris Mill
  • 1 1/2 cups (300 g) Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp (1.5 g) garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp (3 g) Dried dill
  • 2 tbsp (30 g) Greek Olive oil
  • Sel Gris Mill (Season to Taste)
  • Pepper Mil (Season to Taste)

Instructions

  • Clean and pat dry your Cucumber. Then, using your Mandoline on julienne cut and setting 2, slice your Cucumber. Transfer to a bowl.
  • Add the White Wine Vinegar (1 tbsp) and Sel Gris Salt. Toss and set aside. (This will allow to remove the water excess from the cucumber).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Greek Yogurt, Garlic Powder, White Wine Vinegar (2 tbsp) and Greek Olive Oil until combined.
  • Place the cucumbers in a kitchen cloth and press down to remove the excess water. Then, mix it with your yogurt preparation. Season with dried Dill, Salt and Pepper, according to taste. Refrigerate until it is time to serve.
  • Enjoy with some warm Pita Bread and Raw vegetables. Bon Appétit!
