Dive into the rich flavors of tradition this Día de los Muertos with a warm cup of champurrado! This velvety chocolate drink made with Cinnamon, piloncillo, Abuelita Chocolate and Masa Harina is a beloved staple that not only warms the soul but also honors the loved ones who are no longer here.
Add the milk and cinnamon sticks to a medium-size pot and heat over medium-high and bring to a boil.
33.50 oz milk, 2 cinnamon sticks
In the meantime, blend the masa harina together with the spring water until smooth and combined.
2 oz masa harina, 25.05 oz Spring Water
Strain the masa-water mixture into the pot with the milk and cinnamon to remove any lumps. Whisk the mixture and heat until boiling and thick.
Reduce the heat, add in the piloncillo cone, the abuelita chocolates, and vanilla bean paste while occasionally stirring until it is mixed in and combined.
Strain the mixture one more time through a fine-mesh strainer and serve right away. Enjoy!
