Easy Gingerbread Waffles

Happy NATIONAL GINGERBREAD DAY!

Did you know?… Gingerbread originates from Ancient Greeks and Egyptians who used it as a Ceremonial Offering.

I am sharing with you a fantastic recipe which was put together by our Culinary Chefs and Experts at Bon Cook™. The original recipe calls for much more Molasses than what I have added. For personal taste, I have kept the gingerbread subtle. Then, I whipped the egg whites in order to have waffles super light and fluffy.

I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did & Bon Appetit!

As always, you will find the Step-by-Step Video below the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 8 Tbsp (115 g) butter (Melted)
  • 2 eggs (Separated)
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
  • 1 cup (245 g) milk
  • 1 tsp (4 g) vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp (20 g) molasses
  • 2 cups (250 g) flour
  • 2 tsp (8 g) baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp (3 g) baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp (8 g) ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp (2 g) ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp (1 g) ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp (0.25 g) ground cloves
  • 1 tsp (6 g) sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400F/200C.
  • Place the butter in a small sauce pan and heat on low until melted. Set aside.
  • Then, separate egg yolks from egg whites in two mixing bowls.
  • In the first mixing bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes on medium high speed). Then, stir in the milk, molasses and Vanilla Extract. Set aside.
  • In another mixing bowl, whisk together Flour, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Cloves, and Sea Salt. Set aside.
  • Incorporate your first preparation to your dry preparation. Then, add the cooled melted butter. Mix until well combined.
  • In last mixing bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks. Then, using a spatula carefully fold it into your preparation.
  • Pour your batter into the Flexipat® using the mini ladle. Then, gently spread the batter with your offset spatula, ensuring not to remove the air you incorporated when whipping your egg whites.
  • Bake for 15 minutes at 400F/200C. (Every oven heats differently, monitor your waffles from 12min)
  • Once your Gingerbread Waffles are out of the oven, let them cool down for about 1min. Then, Unmold, Serve with dusted confectioners' sugar or as it. Enjoy while hot! Bon Appétit!
